I presume other people have this issue too – how do I find out if the company calling is really who they say they are, and why is it so important that they ask security questions of me when they have already selected me to call?

Interesting idea that – call centres calling other call centres – one might even try building an entire call centre economy out of such activity as new call centres open to handle the exponential growth in phone traffic! Although on second thoughts it couldn’t really work because the system would clog up with incorrectly answered security questions …
